New in 2026, three conductors shared the job of rehearsing the thirteen pieces on the program. Veteran piano monster conductor, Ginger Yang Hwalek, shared the stage with both Brunswick area musician and conductor, Nina Andersen, and our own president-elect, Jacqueline Savage, who recently completed a master’s degree at the University of Southern Maine in choral conducting. Each conductor was spectacular in successfully honing their groups by the end of the day. Their collective expertise and enthusiasm was inspiring to behold!

 

MaineMTA offers both member and non-member teachers and their students the opportunity to participate in their biennial Piano Monster Festival. This day long piano monster experience offers students the opportunity to perform in an ensemble situation with other pianists, to learn how to follow a conductor on stage and to develop “on the spot” musical reflexes. 

 

The next MaineMTA Piano Monster Festival will be held in the spring of 2028. Information about PMF 2028 will appear here by September, 2027.
